Our Story & Philosophy

We build strengthfrom the ground up.

A Portland, OR based fitness studio with a unique approach: knees-over-toes methodology, barefoot training, structural balance, symmetry, breath and body awareness, and ability-based goals.

Community Focused

Meet like-minded people with similar goals.

No Easy Feet uses a partner training system to build community and foster a greater understanding through shared physical expression. Programs are ability-based, so they meet you where you are.

We're one of just a handful of gyms in the world run by a Level III certified ATG coach.

The Ground-Up Idea

Most training starts at the top. We start at the floor.

Fortify your feet and enhance your stability — fostering improvements from your foundation upward.

We train barefoot to fortify the feet and enhance stability — building strength and overall body health from the foundation upward.

From there we use the Knees Over Toes (ATG) system for strength and flexibility. It builds mobility in the ankles, knees, hips, spine, and shoulders. No Easy Feet is one of just a handful of gyms in the world run by a Level III certified ATG coach.

Alongside that, we train for structural balance — symmetry, breath, and body awareness — and set ability-based goals built around your body rather than a one-size-fits-all template.

Our Approach

Three things hold up everything we coach.

Adam Shumaker, Owner, Trainer at No Easy Feet

A Note From The Founder

Adam Shumaker

Adam rehabilitated his own ACL tear and severe meniscus tear using the ATG method, and interned under Ben Patrick, the Knees Over Toes Guy. That's where the ground-up approach comes from.

Adam has been a certified personal trainer since 2013. With a background as a visual artist, musician, professional copywriter and English Teacher, Adam loves to bring creativity, humor and abstract thinking into his sessions. Since he began his fitness career, he’s been a fitness manager for a big box gym, a PR rep for a big box gym, and an intern under many nationally renowned coaches and fitness professionals including Ben Patrick (Knees Over Toes Guy). Adam has also successfully rehabbed a full ACL tear and a severe meniscus (knee cartilage) tear using the ATG or Knees Over Toes method. With over a decade of experience, Adam delivers excellent results to clients near and far. In addition to fitness and the arts, Adam is also an experienced meditator and cold plunge practitioner. He loves to integrate mindfulness and mental toughness into his teaching style.
